Cortisone & Anthralin Cream Treatment
Several articles today both with overviews of hairloss treatments via prescription medications.
Dermatologist Recommendations
If you’ve tried Rogaine and have been less-than-thrilled with the results, you may want to ask your Dermatologist about these two prescription medications for hairloss
Cortosone therapy has been shown to help hair loss in some patients. The therapy consists of injections into the scalp on a monthly basis, or cortisone pills taken orally. Applied topically to the scalp, Anthralin cream or ointment is believed to stimulate new hair growth.
Problems With Propecia
Propecia is the only FDA-approved hair loss pill, has some troubling side effects. According to Dr. Michael Pin, a specialist in primary care pharmacotherapy, and is the president of the El Paso Area Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists roughly 4 percent of men experience varying degrees of impotence and decreases in libido while taking Propecia. Fortunately, the problem corrects itself when the patient stops taking Propecia.

Cortosone therapy seems to be the way forward for most Alopecia sufferers’ however having talked to my Dermatologist this week you can’t really use any creams of injections around the eye area as the risk of retina damage is too great. Which if your losing you eyebrows and eyelashes is a little dissapointing.
I’ll be interested in any feedback about treatments for the eye area that you have heard of.
