Itchy Scalp & Alopecia Areata

As written prior alopecia areata is caused via an auto immune disease in which the white blood cells attack hair follicles which then cause hair loss. Having AA (alopecia areata) myself for over 6 years I have watched the disease move from different parts of my scalp and effecting my hairline. Another symptom of AA is an itchy scalp, my guess is when the white blood cells attack the follicles it creates an itching sensation? Their is not a lot of information on the web at this time about an itchy scalp and alopecia however I was able to dig up the following:

  • MoonDragons Look Into Alopecia Areata & Itchy Scalp
  • This site offers an interesting look into different types of alopecia and makes note that hyssop oil is excellent for an itchy scalp.
