What Causes Alopecia?

So What Causes Alopecia?

That has to be the million dollar question! Since being diagnosed about 6 years ago or so I have seen several dermatologists all whom have told me the cause of the disease is unclear at this time. Once doctor mentioned “stress” however I have a hard time believing that stress has caused my hair loss problem ala’ alopecia. I have read numerous times that alopecia linked to “autoimmune” and simply put the white blood cells attack the hair follicles causing loss of hair.

However no one seams to understand “why” this happens.

Although there’s no scientific proof that stress causes Alopecia I believe it can be a trigger in some people. I’ve had Alopecia several times, mainly during stressful times of my life so its easy to point the blame at stress levels. However people can get Alopecia at anytime so its important to keep an open mind. I’ve read that there’s a lot of research going in to this area at the moment so it will be interesting to see what conclusions are drawn.
